On October 5th, Claire Reynolds will put Pfluger’s record on stock trading, data centers and representation of TX-11 directly before voters.
The debate will be LIVE on Basin PBS channels 13 or 36, on the Basin PBS Facebook page and YouTube Channel from 7pm-8pm CST.
MIDLAND, TX — Congressman August Pfluger and Democratic nominee Claire Reynolds will face off October 5 in a debate hosted by Basin PBS, giving voters across Texas’ 11th Congressional District the opportunity to hear directly from both candidates about their records, priorities and plans for the district. This confirmation is the first set debate of any federal candidates in Texas this election cycle.
For Pfluger, the debate comes after nearly six years in Washington and three uncontested elections, as his own townhalls indicate growing concerns about whose interests his time in Congress has served.
Pfluger has continued trading individual stocks while serving in Congress, including investments connected to the energy industry, while becoming the oil and gas industry’s largest benefactor in Washington. At the same time, communities across TX-11 are confronting rising health care costs, threats to rural hospitals, water shortages and a rapidly expanding data center industry placing new demands on Texas’ power grid and water supply.
On October 5, Reynolds says voters should expect answers.
“Congressman Pfluger has had six years in Washington. Now we get to put his record next to the reality people are living every day across this district,” said Reynolds. “If Washington is working so well for the people he represents, he should be able to show us how.”
Reynolds has made affordability, government accountability, rural health care, clean water, and support for veterans and energy workers central themes in her campaign.
A lawyer with more than 25 years of experience, including work enforcing professional ethics standards, Reynolds has argued that members of Congress should be held to the same basic standard as everyone else: do the job, follow the rules, and answer to the people you work for.
“People across this district know that our current leaders aren’t working for us,” Reynolds said. “We deserve a representative in Congress who will actually do something about rising health care costs, struggling rural hospitals, threats to our water and power, and a system that still lets members of Congress trade individual stocks. That’s the job.”
